Hindi film actress Raveena Tandon features in the new advertisement for Children's Day launched by People for Ethical Treatment to Animals (PETA).

The advertisement carries just the eyes of the actress, superimposed on the photograph of a dog, a PETA release said here adding, the eyes convey the emotion of love and compassion, with an accompanying tag line "Compassionate Children Lead to Compassionate Adults."

Research in psychology and criminology shows that people who commit acts of cruelty to animals often move on to violent acts against fellow humans, it said.

A study by World Society for the Protection of Animals has found that 75 per cent of violent criminals interviewed had been abused as children, with them confessing that they in turn abused animals, the PETA release added.
